Programming

Programming is the “process of writing programs on a computer” (taken from Google Dictionary), there are many different languages and forms of programming. Programming is usually done in notepad or notepad++.

The average salaries for jobs that involve programming are:
·         Programmers – £52500 (a low of £42500 and a high of £62500)

The entry requirements for a programmer are 5 GCSE grades (A*-C), 112 points in A Levels (general studies not accepted) or 112 points in BTEC national (merit or distinction). A degree in computer science is also necessary as you must know advanced programming languages.

People expect programmers to work around 60 hours a week, and it’s still believed that they do, however it is a myth. Programmers only work around 40 hours per week, in which they’ll get about 6 hours of work done and the rest of it will be meetings and creative thinking to come up with ideas for new programs. Of course if they’re working on a program that has a plan and is ready to make, the programming just needs to be written then they will use that time to work rather than being creative, however the actual writing of the programs don’t take that long once they know what they’re doing. Sometimes the job can be quite stressful if you don’t keep up to schedule but if you are efficient and work properly then you won’t have any problems keeping up and from there the job is quite flexible and you will have a lot of freedom.

According to indeed there are 535 jobs available in Milton Keynes that are related to programming. For a small city this is quite a large amount meaning that there are lots of vacancies for this job. The reason for this is that in cities lots of things are controlled by technology, and it is useful to have programmers to write useful programs from scratch to help you keep things efficient.
