Cyber-security

A brief description of cyber-security would be that its different hardware, software, and processes made to protect data, networks, and computers. It is always done through technology hence the name “cyber” security. Some jobs in cyber-security include Information Security officers, Forensic computer analysts and an IT Security Engineer.

The average salaries for these jobs are:
·         Information Security Officer - £42630 (can be upwards of £79000)
·         Forensic Computer Analysts - £56310 (can be upwards of £89283)
·         IT Security Engineer - £25467 (can be upwards of £50000)

These jobs fit the criteria for multiple reasons however I will list and explain the main ones. First of all they all are involved with the Police, which is a clear indicator that they are related to security, secondly they are all related to IT, for example the information security officer will constantly be searching online and through a computer using different software and hardware to get evidence on a crime.

The entry requirements for these jobs are very similar so I’m not going to go into detail for each one, these are the general requirements to work in the cyber-security category, a minimum of 112 points from two A-levels or equivalent qualifications, you need 5 GCSEs (level A*-C). You can also do a Computing and Mathematics foundation year.

As a cyber-security worker you will work depending on the investigation they’re dealing with, it can vary from 35 hours per week to 60 hours per week.

According to indeed there are 1229 jobs available in London that are related to cyber-security, meaning it is a very active job and there are many places in London that are looking for people who will work in their industry, the main reason for the job being so popular is because computers and technology is constantly improving meaning that security needs to keep up with it.

Once again, cyber-security is generally located in the USA due to their advanced and powerful military, as well as protecting the data held in the Pentagon they're also protecting their citizens' data using companies that help to stay safe from hackers. There are cybersecurity workers in the UK and obviously, that is because every country needs to have a strong protection from cyber warfare.
